But sometimes as adults, we let those childhood habits slide a bit. Here are some things to remember as check in with yourself and get back to those basic habits.
2×2: To make sure your teeth get thoroughly cleaned, the American Dental Association recommends that you brush your teeth twice a day, for 2 minutes each time. Brush the inside, outside, and surface areas of your teeth using short, tooth-wide strokes and gentle pressure. This will make sure that your tooth enamel and gums stay protected while your teeth get clean.
The Right Brush: Toothbrushes need to be replaced about every 3-4 months. Make sure you are buying a toothbrush that has earned the ADA Seal of Acceptance. This will ensure that the bristles are soft and that the brush, if used properly, will not damage your teeth or gum tissue.
Floss: Flossing only takes about 2-3 minutes a day. It’s a small investment, but will bring big dividends to you oral health. Floss once a day.
